Cape Town - The recent rains and this week’s expected cold snap is not unusual for this time of year, says the SA Weather Service.

The service’s Henning Grobler said most of the rain last week had been along the south coast. “These systems are quite common this time of the year; we can still get them passing through up to December. A well-developed cold front with rainy and cold conditions is expected to set in over the Western Cape by late Monday afternoon. It will move eastwards over the interior by Tuesday.”

James-Brent Styan, spokesperson for Environmental Affairs MEC Anton Bredell, said: “At this stage it is still a bit early to say what the effect will be we will get a clearer idea by Monday when the Department of Water and Sanitation normally gets back to us with updates on the dam levels.”
