Cape Town - A man is missing after he and two others were swept out to sea while swimming at Diaz Beach, Mossel Bay on Thursday, the National Sea Rescue Institute said.

The missing man was believed to be in his 30s, NSRI spokesman Craig Lambinon said.

A 23-year-old woman was found on shore and a 30-year-old man was coming out of the water.

“Both exited the water unassisted and were treated on-scene by ER24 paramedics for near drowning symptoms,” Lambinon said.

Both were transported to hospital in a stable condition.

“Despite an extensive search, there was no sign of the man and a police dive unit is continuing with an ongoing search.”
