MyCiTi bus drivers embark on wildcat strike

Cape Town - Bus drivers employed by MyCiTi bus vehicle operating companies have embarked on a wildcat strike on Monday morning, Member of the Mayoral Committee: Transport and Urban Development Brett Herron said.

"There are reports of intimidation of those drivers who are working. Striking bus drivers are apparently blocking red roads."

He also apologised to affected commuters.

There are currently no buses operating on routes A01, T01, T03, T04, 101, 102, 103,104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 213, 214, 215, 216, 217, 230, 251, 260, 261, 262 and a limited services on routes T02, D01, D02, D03, D04, @MyCiTiBus tweeted.

The strike is expected to add more strain on commuters already suffering under an unreliable rail transport system.
