Johannesburg - Nine people were injured on Monday, when a truck crashed into three taxis in Grassy Park in the Western Cape,  paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics, Life Healthcare and Metro Services, arrived on the scene and found the truck in the middle of the road while the three taxis were found on the side of the road.

"The passengers had already climbed out of the vehicles and were found walking around on the scene. Paramedics assessed the patients and found that a total of nine had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Fortunately, no serious injuries were found on the scene," Meiring said.

"The patients were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported to nearby provincial hospitals for further care."

Meiring said that the exact cause of the accident was not known but local authorities were on the scene to investigate the cause.
