Cape Town - Two shootings in the same Bonteheuwel street in just one week has left one person dead and two injured.

In the past week, Vlamboom Street has been the backdrop for two crime scenes with the most recent incident on Wednesday in which two people were shot.

Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says the incident happened at 19.55 pm when a man and woman were shot.

According to a resident, who asked not to be named, the male victim was shot at 66 Vlamboom Street and the female victim was walking in the road and got hit by a stray bullet.

Rwexana says the two victims were transported to hospital for medical treatment.

She says police are now investigating an attempted murder case.

Last Wednesday, Basier Byron Johannisen, 23, was killed by two unknown gunmen at an alleged drug den.

His wife Yushra Karriem, 24, told the Daily Voice that he went to the house to buy dagga with a friend.

Ward councillor, Angus Mckenzie, says the recent shootings are a cause for concern.

“Two shootings in the same street in just one week is a major concern. We have just gotten used to peace, now it seems we must get used to gunfire. I urge people to come forward with information.”
