Johannesburg - Load shedding was terminated at 9pm on Friday night - an hour ahead of the scheduled 10pm stop - but the probability of Stage 1 rotational load shedding remains high from 9am on Saturday morning to 10pm, Eskom said.

This was to conserve emergency reserves and give maintenance teams space to bring generating units back online, the state-owned power utility said in a statement.

Customers should note that some municipalities may take longer to restore load. If customers experienced outages for longer periods than announced, they should contact their supplier (Eskom or the municipality), as this may be a localised power outage.

"Eskom would like to thank its customers for using electricity sparingly and industrial customers for their participation in load curtailment [on Friday]. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience to affected customers," Eskom said.
