Cape Town - The South African Police Service’s Organised Crime Unit is investigating a case of business robbery after a bombing at a Sunningdale petrol station on Monday morning.

While details of the alleged bombing are still sketchy, police have confirmed the incident in which an unknown number of robbers allegedly made off with the contents of a drop safe.

According to Table View police spokesperson Adriana Chandler, staff at the filling station informed police who responded to the scene that they heard a loud bang.

“They heard a loud noise and headed for cover. When they investigated they found a drop safe on the premises, blown open and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken,” Chandler said.

No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.

Police are yet to confirm how many suspects are being sought for the crime.
