Cape Town - The South African-born stuntwoman who was seriously injured on the set of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will have her left arm amputated.

In September, Olivia Jackson was seriously injured during a motorcycle crash while shooting a high-speed chase scene for the zombie movie series being shot in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Olivia, 34, was a stunt double for star Milla Jovovich.

Olivia crashed into a metal camera arm and suffered serious injuries to her head, face, arm and back and had a punctured lung.

She was in an induced coma for two weeks.

Olivia told the Sun newspaper: “My left arm is paralysed and is going to have to be amputated.

“My facial scarring is horrible and I wish I had my old face. But I’m truly grateful to be alive.”

Meanwhile, the wife of the Mitchells Plain crew member who died after a freak accident during the shooting of the same movie, is hell bent on finding answers after his death.

Ricardo Cornelius, 34, died on December 3 after he was crushed by a Hummer on a rotating platform on the Belhar set of the film.

He and other crew members were manually rotating the vehicle on the platform when he slipped and was pinned to the wall.

He suffered serious injuries to his liver and died in hospital a few hours after the incident.

All Access Crew managing director, Cassandre Wilson, said there were safety officers on set at the time of the incident.

“The film production company has a full-time health and safety officer and he was on site,” she said.

But grieving widow Shafiefa, 26, says this is not what she was told.

“They never told me he was standing on the platform.

“They are telling lies,” she insists.

Police have opened an inquest docket into her husband’s death and Shafiefa has vowed to find out exactly how her hubby has died.
