Cape Town - Another suspect has been arrested in connection with an attack on two police officers, which left one officer dead and another wounded in Khayelitsha, outside Cape Town, in April, the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) said on Monday.

"The 31-year-old suspect was arrested over the weekend in Site C [in Khayelitsha]," the DPCI, more commonly known as the Hawks, said in a statement.

The Hawks' National Bureau for Illegal Firearms Control and Priority Violent Crime Unit, together with Khayelitsha detectives and members of the visible policing unit tracked the suspect to the same area where the attack took place.

Constable Ncedo Katoyi was killed and his partner wounded when several armed men attacked them while attending to a complaint in Site C.

Shortly after the attack, police arrested Lwandile Wiseman Somdaka, 32. He remains in custody after abandoning his bail application.

The second suspect will appear in court on Tuesday.
