Cape Town - Two men drowned Mossel Bay and False Bay in the Western Cape, the National Sea Rescue Institute said on Sunday.

A 16-year-old boy drowned at De Bakke in Mossel Bay on Saturday afternoon, NSRI spokesman Craig Lambinon said.

The boy, from Mossel Bay, was swept out to sea by rip-currents while swimming. Police divers found his body and paramedics declared him dead on the scene.

In a separate incident, a 25-year-old man drowned on the False Bay coast between Gordons Bay and Kleinmond on Saturday afternoon. His body was found floating in the water.

It was not yet known where he was from. Inquest dockets were opened for both drownings. - Sapa
