The Cape of Good Hope SPCA in Grassy Park has partnered with Bravado Gaming to raise funds for animal food.
A virtual event called #Each1Feed1 Gaming for Good will be held tomorrow between 1pm and 5.30pm, and five popular and experienced gamers will battle each other for a good cause.
SPCA spokesperson Belinda Abraham says: “We have as many as 500 animals on-site at any given time. That’s a lot of tummies to keep full, especially in winter when animals eat more than usual.
“It costs an average of R25 to feed one dog or cat for just one day in the winter, R175 for a week and R700 for a month.
“We couldn’t be more thankful to Bravado Gaming and the gamers for helping us to raise the funds to cover some of these essential costs because this enables us to direct our efforts towards our life-saving work in the field of prevention of cruelty to animals.”
Tristan Rens, general manager of Bravado Gaming, adds: “We are all animal lovers here and in honour of Mandela Day this year, we hope to unite the masses in our common purpose – to provide for the most basic of needs for the most vulnerable of beings and do it in a way that promotes staying home and staying safe.”
The gamers are Barry Forster, Adam Bhamjee, Jana du Toit, Kyle Swart and Jessica Maij.
