The African National Congress has welcomed the decision of the National Disciplinary Committee of Appeals (NDCA), which effectively upholds the earlier decision of the National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) regarding the fate of Julius Malema.

“This outcome brings to finality a matter that has been under way for more than nine months. It Is our view that the affected Comrades will abide by the decision of the NDCA,” said the statement, issued by Jackson Mthembu.

“We call on all the members of the ANC, including the affected comrades, ANC leagues, the alliance structures and the public at large to accept and respect the disciplinary outcome so as to allow the organisation to continue and focus on its historic responsibility of servicing our people and our country.”

“It has been a difficult and painful decision to subject some of our comrades to a disciplinary process and the resultant sanctions. This had to be done in the defence of the organisation and affirming of the ANC Constitution. This is not the first time a member or members of the ANC had to be subjected to a due process in upholding our Constitution, many of those who have been subjected to the same process and sanction have in turn learnt from their mistakes and have become better members who are fulfilling their role in the organisation. We believe the same is possible for Comrades Julius Malema, Sindiso Magaqa and Floyd Shivambu,” the party said. - Sapa
