Madiba’s image is not free. If you want to pay tribute to South Africa’s greatest icon, you are not allowed to use any photo of him without paying for it through one of the premium image libraries.
Not even on Mandela Day.
Independent Media would like to change that by helping you honour him this Mandela Day. We’ve set up a special website with free access to our to Madiba images, for your adverts and tributes. The extensive library of images has been sourced from the archives of the African News Agency as well as the University of Cape Town.
All we ask is that you honour his memory with dignity when doing so, and invite others to be part of the initiative.
