The Hollywoodbets team continues supporting their communities during Covid-19 crisis

Hollywoodbets has come together with some of their brand ambassadors to bring relief to communities severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. South African sporting stars Mike Procter, Odwa Ndungane and Akona Ndungane joined forces with the rest of their purple family to provide practical help to two communities dear to them. Courtesy of their work with the  Hollywoodbets My Community Programme a total of 214 families based in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape will now have food on their tables. 

On Friday the 17th of April South African cricket legend, Mike Procter and other members of the Hollywoodbets Team visited the Ottawa Primary School in Phoenix. Here they delivered 150 food parcels to the community, 50 of which were sponsored by Greg Slater from Eastmans SUPERSPAR in Durban North. The day was also made possible courtesy of Brigadier Ndlovu and his team from Durban North Police Station. 

Procter has worked with the school and their feeding scheme for the past 10 years. In an effort to make a larger impact on the community, he invited his new 

 “To Hollywoodbets, thank you for believing in my mission to assist this community, and backing this initiative with your resources from the start. Thank you to the entire team for all your time and effort in putting this handover together. I am proud to be one of your brand ambassadors and look forward to assisting in further projects” Procter exclaimed.

Residents of Gxulu, a small village near Mthatha, appreciated the support received from Springbok stars Akona and Odwa Ndungane. On the 20th of April 64 households received food parcels containing staples like rice, potatoes, maize and more. 

“This project is really important and special to us, as this is a community that we grew up in. South Africa is going through a very challenging time because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many South African homes are finding things difficult and people are unable to buy food due to a loss in income. We chose to donate food parcels to our community. The donation from 

Devin Heffer, Hollywoodbets Brand and Communications manager, explained why they partnered with Procter and the Ndunganes in this way. “As Hollywoodbets our values align closely with those of our brand ambassadors, we all truly believe in living out the spirit of Ubuntu. When we heard of these initiatives that mean so much to our valued team members we felt it was important that we do our part to support these struggling communities. Both Mthatha and Phoenix are also located close to our branches, and it is part of our company culture to give back in our areas of operation. We immediately set to work and did our part to make sure these communities could receive some much-needed help,” he said.
