Cape Town police have taken people in for questioning in connection with the killing of tourist Anni Dewani in Gugulethu, an official said.

“At this moment, our detectives are busy with the questioning of certain persons,” said Captain Frederick van Wyk.

“The investigation is at a very sensitive stage and we are not giving out any further information.”

Van Wyk declined to give any more details, saying more information would be made available at a later stage.

Western Cape police on Monday appealed for “any person who can shed light on the circumstances of the incident, or the whereabouts of the suspects” to contact the investigating officer Colonel Riaan Theron, on 082-463-8706.”

The newly-wed 28-year-old Anni Dewani was murdered on her honeymoon during a suspected hijacking in the Cape Town township of Gugulethu at the weekend.
