Johannesburg - Two people have died in a fire that broke out at a shop outside Makhado, Limpopo police said on Tuesday.
"Members of the community in Bungeni village noticed flames on top of the shop at 2:30am and called the police. They arrived to find the shop already burnt to ashes with two people inside," said police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.
"The motive behind this incident is not clear at this stage but foul play may not be ruled out."
Police have launched an inquest into the incident. The deceased were still to be identified.
