Police surround the body of Sipho Ndovela outside uMlazi Magistrates Court where he was shot dead.

Durban – A 27-year old suspect who allegedly gunned down a man outside the the Umlazi Magistrate’s Court earlier this year appeared in the local court on Friday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

Mxolisi Bhani appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder, and attempted murder.

Police spokesman Thulani Zwane said Bhani was arrested for allegedly killing Sipho Ndovela, 35, outside the Umlazi Magistrate’s Court on May 18.

Two other suspects remain at large.

Zwane said the provincial team who arrested the man had found that the suspect was also linked to a case of attempted murder reported at the Glebelands hostel on June 11 this year where a 40-year-old man had been shot and wounded.

The suspect will remain in custody until September 1 as his case is still being investigated.

“The KwaZulu-Natal SAPS management welcome the arrest of the suspect who was on the run for a few months. We hope that his accomplice will be arrested as well,” said Zwane.
