A suicide bomber on a motorcycle killed four civilians and a police officer in southern Afghanistan on Tuesday, officials said.

The attacker detonated his explosives after driving into a police patrol in a bazaar in Kandahar city, the capital of the province with the same name, police chief General Abdul Razzaq said.

“Four civilians and a police officer were killed and 10 others were wounded,” he said.

Another security official told dpa earlier that one girl was killed and 12 people, including eight civilians, were injured.

Razzaq said six children were among the 10 wounded. - Sapa-dpa
