There have been violent protests in Bangladesh as a general strike by the opposition enters its second day.

They are demonstrating against the convictions of three men accused of collaborating with Pakistani forces during the independence war of 1971.

On Monday, the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its 17 partners tried to enforce a shutdown, which is aimed at securing the release of opposition leaders and activists who are in prison.
