Iran hangs convicted child rapists

Tehran - Three convicted rapists were publicly hanged in the Fars province in south Iran, the ISNA news agency reported Monday.

The three men had kidnapped and raped a 14-year-old boy in the provincial capital Shiraz, the report said.

They were publicly hanged on Sunday in the city of Jadid Sadr after the Supreme Court confirmed their death verdicts, ISNA added.

Murder, rape, armed robbery and trafficking more than five kilograms of drugs are among crimes punishable by death in Iran. - Sapa-dpa
