La Paz, Bolivia -

Police have arrested a Bolivian provincial lawmaker who was caught by security cameras having what appears to be non-consensual sex in a legislative chamber with an extremely inebriated and possibly unconscious woman.

The lawmaker had fled after the video was broadcast and posted on YouTube last week.

Prosecutors say Domingo Alcibia faces charges of abuse of power but is not being prosecuted for sexual assault because the woman, a janitor, did not file a complaint.

If convicted, he faces up to eight years in prison.

When the incident came to light, Alcibia said he didn't remember anything because he was drunk. But he also denied that he sexually assaulted the woman, who has apparently gone into hiding. - Sapa-AP
