Honolulu - President Barack Obama is back in Hawaii for vacation after Congress reached a last-minute, limited deal to avoid the so-called “fiscal cliff.”

The president rejoined his family Wednesday after returning to Washington for tense negotiations on an agreement to avoid abrupt tax increases and deep spending cuts that could have sent the economy back into recession.

The House of Representatives voted late Tuesday night on a package to avoid income tax increases for most Americans. The Senate earlier passed the package, which delays billions in spending cuts for two months
