Washington - President Barack Obama will meet with two top Republican lawmakers on Tuesday to discuss overhauling the nation's immigration laws.

A White House official says Obama will sit down with Arizona Senator John McCain and South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham. The lawmakers are members of a larger bipartisan Senate group working on a plan to overhaul the nation's broken immigration system.

The White House wouldn't say why Obama is not meeting with the other members of the group, including Republican Senator Marco Rubio of Florida. Obama previously met with the four Democrats on the immigration panel.

McCain and Graham have been sharply at odds with Obama over his nominee to lead the Pentagon, Chuck Hagel. The Senate will vote on Tuesday on whether to move ahead on the nomination. - Sapa-AP
