Helsinki - Two people have died in a stabbing attack in the Finnish city of Turku, police told a news conference Friday.
Police have released no motive for the attack and were focusing on establishing the identity of the suspect, national police chief Seppo Kolehmainen said.
Police declined to comment how the victims died. One passed away in hospital, a spokesman for the Turku Central University Hospital said.
Nine people were taken to hospital, with three people were in intensive care, the spokesman said.
A spokesman for the Finnish Central Criminal police (KRP) said that "so far we are not investigating this as terror attack, but we can not rule that out."
Police said they have seized a knife.
Interior Minister Paula Risikko said police would be more visible in public places.
