A Chinese national who swallowed a diamond at an international exhibition in Sri Lanka on Wednesday was arrested after the owner detected the theft, a police officer said.
The suspect was inspecting the diamond valued at $14 000 at a stall and suddenly swallowed it, the officer said.
The vendor detained the man and handed him over to police, who took him to a hospital to be given laxatives to recover the diamond. - Sapa-dpa
