Moscow -
President Jacob Zuma has arrived in Sochi, Russia, for bilateral talks with his counterpart Vladimir Putin, the presidency said on Wednesday.
Spokesman Mac Maharaj said Zuma's visit was in line with legal mechanisms, including the strategic partnership declaration signed in March and the Treaty of Friendship and Partnership signed in 2006.
The South African delegation included International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, Tourism Minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk, State Security Minister Siyabonga Cwele, Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa, and Energy Minister Dipuo Peters.
Maharaj said agreements on education, energy, defence, fisheries, mineral resources, transport, science and technology were signed during Putin's visit to South Africa in March.
“In addition, a number of business to business contracts were signed between South African and Russian companies.”
These agreements provided opportunities to further strengthen trade and investment, and skills and technology exchanges between the countries. - Sapa
