Actor and musician Bonginkosi Dlamini, known as “Zola”, handed himself to police in Brixton, Joburg, after a reporter was allegedly bitten by his dog, police said on Tuesday.

Lieutenant-Colonel Tshisikhawe Ndou said Dlamini would appear in the Brixton Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

On Monday, the Daily Sun newspaper reported that journalist Ngwako Malatji was writing an article on Dlamini and was invited to his house in Melville, Joburg.

At the house, Dlamini would not let in the accompanying photographer, who waited outside the gate.

Malatji claimed two dogs were set on him and he was struck with a chair when he went inside.

When police went to the house after the alleged incident, Dlamini was not home.

Dlamini is known for playing Papa Action in “Yizo Yizo 2”, as a presenter on the television show “Zola 7”, and for his kwaito music. – Sapa
