Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma has appointed two acting Constitutional Court judges, it was announced on Tuesday.

The Presidency in a statement said Zuma had appointed Justice Dumisani Hamilton Zondi, a Judge of the Supreme Court of Appeal, and Justice Jody Kollapen, a Judge of the Gauteng Division of the High Court, as acting judges.

This temporary appointment is effective from July 7 until December 30, 2017. 

The two were appointed in terms of section 175 (1) of the of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa of 1996.

 

Zondi will be acting in the position that had been occupied by Deputy Chief Justice Ray Zondo while Kollapen will act in the place of Justice Bess Nkabinde who is set to go on leave.
