The Raging Bull Award certificate for the best offshore global real estate general fund on risk-adjusted basis should have been awarded to the Oasis Crescent Global Property Equity Fund at the recent Raging Bull Award ceremony. This fund, domiciled in Ireland, had a return of 22.7 percent a year over the past five years and achieved the highest PlexCrown Fund Rating of offshore global property funds registered with the Financial Services Board (these are funds regarded as suitable for South African investors). At this year’s Raging Bull Award ceremony, held on January 29 in Sandton, Oasis collected the Raging Bull Award for the Offshore Management Company of the Year, and the performance of its global property fund was correctly included in the calculation that determined it won this award. On the evening, however, the certificate for the best risk-adjusted offshore global real estate equity fund was erroneously made to the Sarasin IE Real Estate Equity Fund. The Sarasin IE Real Estate Equity Fund was, however, correctly awarded the certificate for the best offshore global real estate equity fund on straight performance over three years to the end of December.
