The TOPS at SPAR Bierfest, in association with the Pretoria News and the Cape Brewing Company (CBC), is promising the city a great Oktoberfest-style event.

Over the past eight years Bierfest has evolved into a favourite beer festival. This year the Brauhaus will be created at the Sun Arena, Time Square, for the first time - over the weekend of November 2-3.

The event includes games and activities, live bands in a Brauhau-style interior that will transport festival-goers into the town square of Biervaria, where they can enjoy 10 delicious beers - including a special Oktoberfest brew - on tap and a range of ciders from Rekorderlig.

The event is produced by Andrew Douglas, with Klaus Uberhuber serving as mayor of Biervaria and CBC’s brewmaster, Wolfgang Koedel.

“it’s about the passion of the brewers, the quality of the ingredients you use, the purity of the brewing process and ultimately great-tasting beer,” said Andy Kung, head of operations and Development at CBC.

The Cape Brewing Company, a leader in the craft beer industry, is situated on the Suid-Agter Paarl Road. It had its origins when Swedish brewer Hendrik Dunge joined the team of two craft beer enthusiasts, Charles Back and Andy Kung.

CBC’s team consists of South Africans working with Germans, Swedes and Swiss - each imparting their unique character and heritage to form the quintessential team - Independent by Choice.
