FORMER Bosasa chief operations officer Angelo Agrizzi has been the most intriguing individual this week as he unpacks the names of politicians and government officials who benefited from the company's bribery largesse.

The memes that have been doing the rounds on social media say it all, questioning and wondering whose name is next to drop in his Zondo state capture commission of inquiry testimony.

Apart from dropping some big names, he said Bosasa drafted bid specifications for tenders that it would later bid for.

And speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos yesterday, President Cyril Ramaphosa said the rot in state institutions being uncovered at the commission was far worse than expected.

In Pretoria, the commission of inquiry into allegations of impropriety regarding the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) got under way this week.

Among the 16 Terms of Reference the commission must probe, is whether any alleged impropriety regarding investment decisions by the PIC in media reports in 2017 and last year contravened any legislation.

The commission is probing whether PIC policy or contractual obligations resulted in any undue benefit for any of its directors, employees or any associate or family member of any director or employee at the time.

We can only hope that South Africa will be a better place once the commissions have completed their work and the findings implemented. Most important, those implicated in wrongdoing should face the music.
