How to be a millionaire at 22
Albert walks into the room and he does not fit the typical businessman mould we’ve been conditioned to expect.
He looks exactly like every other 24-year-old, his long locks of hair and beard have him resembling a young, hippie Steve Jobs, it’s refreshing to see.
Albert Van Wyk has an interesting story to tell and he has done just that. His book, How To Be a Millionaire At 22, has just recently made it into book stores and is generating quite the buzz.
It tells of his journey to wealth and success at a very young age. He made his first million at 22 and continues to grow in stature and influence in the world of business.
Albert describes himself as a serial entrepreneur dating back to when he was 10-years-old and painting street numbers on his neighbours’ pavements for a few rands.
He has come a long way since then, he is now 24, a UP industrial engineering graduate and looking to empower up and coming entrepreneurs with his business incubation programme.
Albert believes there is a huge gap in financial education in South Africa and he feels his book will contribute in filling the void. He said “My dad told me if you want to be the best cricket coach and if you want to become a millionaire you need to learn from millionaires”.
There were no millionaires in his family so Albert went out and got every book written by successful businessmen he could get his hands on. Those books though are written by people who have had several years of success and may have forgotten how it felt in the beginning and may no longer be able to relate to the young people.
“The idea was to create a book that was concise, easy to read and can help people with the financial concepts they need to be successful” he said.
He is passionate about the youth and posed the question “If 10% of today’s youth didn’t have time or financial constraints, what would they be able to achieve?”.
It’s certainly an exciting prospect to think about, particularly in a country with so many unemployed young people.
Albert’s Book is available at most bookstores and also online as an e-book.
