ONLINE registration of learners is the best way possible for the Department of Education to ensure every learner in Gauteng is placed timeously.

MEC Panyaza Lesufi assured parents of learners as he officially switched-on and launched the online learner admission for 2019, at the Atteridgeville community hall this morning.

Lesufi said despite a few hiccups with the registration process, going online for learner registration had enabled the department to account for every application submitted.

And as an added benefit the online process also assisted the department to pick up which schools need to amend or add on a language to accommodate the needs of the community they're in.

He said: "There is no child that has applied that will not be placed unlike before. And with this system we have defeated those who kept asking parents for a registration fee."

The online registration for Grades 1 to 8 will take place as of today until May 28.

With the placement of learners to commence as of July 18 and close on October 31.

Lesufi assured parents queing up inside the hall for assistance that their children would be able to go to any school they wanted.

And should schools refuse to place a learner the school then has to provide the parents with the reasons thereof.

By 11am there had been more that 100 000 applications.
