Pretoria - Police in Limpopo are investigating a mysterious case after the discovery of the body of an unknown man who was allegedly murdered at Holani Medical Centre over the Easter weekend.

SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mamphaswa Seabi said the body was discovered by an employee who was reporting for duty.

“The police together with members of the emergency services were summoned. Upon arrival, he was certified dead at the scene while lying in a pool of blood with multiple wounds to his head.

“The deceased was found wearing a black T-shirt with a Bizza Betta print-out and trousers,” Seabi said.

Seabi added that police investigations were continuing, and the deceased was yet to be identified.

Meanwhile, by Easter Monday afternoon 17 people had died on Limpopo roads after 45 serious crashes in the province since the start of the long weekend.

On Saturday seven people were killed in separate incidents.

The Department of Transport said the first accident was reported on the D11 road at Sekgosese in the Mopani district in the early hours of Friday.

“The driver of a sedan lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree in the early hours of Friday morning.

“He was certified dead at the scene and reckless driving and speeding is suspected to be the cause of the incident.”

“The second crash was reported near Solomondale in the Capricorn district. A sedan driver lost control of his vehicle which then overturned. A 32-year-old passenger was killed on impact, while the driver escaped with serious injuries.”
