Angry and frustrated Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) students have shut down the City as they protest against the police who allegedly shot and killed one of their own on August 23.
Katlego Monareng was shot and killed when the police intervened to resolve failed Student Representative Council (SRC) elections at the Soshanguve campus.
Students seeking justice have been dancing and singing along the City's streets under heavy police presence.
Stores, street vendors and banks were forced to close their doors as students demonstrated their anger with police.
They burned tyres on Pretorius Street outside the Department of Police and Justice.

The police tried to take the tyres from the students, but a group of students took the tyres back by force.
The crowd started burning plastic road barrier signs and said that the police are killers who killed an innocent student.
Spectators gathered to watch the demonstration.
The students have just been informed that Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, and National Police Commissioner, General Khehla Sitole, are coming to address them.

Students sent out a media invitation late yesterday to announce plans to march to the Department of Police and Justice despite the Metro Police Department issuing a statement that the students would march to Telkom Towers.
Students do not want to speak or listen to anyone else who is not Cele and some of them are refusing to engage Cele's deputy.
