Judge Billy Mothle of the Gauteng High Court, Pretoria has ruled the death of the late Ahmed Timol a murder.

After 46 years, the court ruled that Timol was pushed from the 10th floor of what was formerly known as the John Foster Square Police Station.

The nephew of the anti-apartheid activist, Imtiaz Cajee, has been working tirelessly all of his life to learn the truth about his uncle’s death.

“For the first time we can now say my uncle did not die in police detention, but he was killed.”
