Pretoria - There were scenes of jubilation at the Soshanguve Extension 7 sports grounds on Friday morning where residents were handed title deeds.

More than 1 800 beneficiaries from Soshanguve Extension 5, 6 and 7 received their title deeds .

Title deed Friday as it is known, forms part of Premier David Makhura’s programme to restore dignity to the people by giving them ownership of their houses.

Dikeledi Molala, 51, said she had for the past three years waited for ownership of her house.

An ecstatic Molala said: “I’m relieved because I finally have proof that this indeed is my house, it is in my name.

From the time I got this RDP house in 2014, I used to always think that maybe someone might show up and claim that it is registered in their name but from today all will be well,” the mother of five said.

Ward councillor Enos Chiloane said: “I just want to thank the Department of Human Settlement for giving the residents hope that they are part of the developments and from today they have proof that they are real owners.

“People in ext 6 and 7 never waited too long as it was just a period of only two years, but I'm really happy that people received proof that the houses are theirs,” he told Pretoria News.
