TSHWANE Emergency services are in a race against time to free passengers trapped in a Metrorail coach following a head-on collision at Mountain View station this morning.
Gauteng Metro rail spokesperson, Lillian Mofokeng, said two trains coming from Mabopane station to Pretoria station collided in Mountain view just after 9am.
Mofokeng said one of the trains was stationary and was hit from behind by the second one.
The exact cause and full details of the accident was not known, but Mofokeng said the passenger railway service was doing it's best to prioritise commuters that were injured.
"Emergency services reported there were three fatalities and one critically injured. There are close to 300 commuters injured."
