Unhappy with what they say is slow service delivery in their community, disgruntled residents of Eersterust have barricaded roads while protesting over service delivery.

Constant electricity cut offs, high rates and taxes, water restrictions and flawed RDP processes are just some of the burning issues that residents said they’ve had to deal with.

Some residents claim that corruption had infiltrated the municipality accompanied by nepotism and the flouting of procurement processes.

“The mayor must come and address us or else all hell with break loose. We are tired of being second best to Mamelodi. They get more services than we do. Why is that?” asked a resident.

"Since last year we have been writing to our councillors, municipal managers and the mayor, about our grievances, we have submitted a number of petitions but our issues have never been addressed," said another resident.
