The DJ Black Coffee is believed to have signed a deal with world-famous record company Def Jam.
The DJ, whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphumulo, will now be managed by the same team who manage such renowned artists as Ed Sheeran, 2Chainz, Common, Ludacris, JadaKiss, Fabolous, Jeremih, Big Sean, Iggy Azalea, Frank Ocean, Leona Lewis, and August Alsina.
The record company is co-owned by rap music guru Russell Simmons and is one of the most successful in the world.
It has been reported that Black Coffee will be moving permanently to the US, which he has been visiting for a few months on his international tour.
It has also been reported that the house music DJ’s next album will feature a number of international artists who are signed to Def Jam Recordings.
Maphumulo, who hails from the Eastern Cape, is to perform in Paris next week and then head to Los Angeles for his next performance.
The multi-award-winning record producer and DJ has released four albums and a DVD under his label, Soulistic music in Joburg.
He embarked on his music career in 1994.
Black Coffee’s first big break came in 2004 when he was chosen to participate in the Red Bull Music Academy in Cape Town.
