Johannesburg - This week we feature professional South African field hockey player Keenan Horne.
Horne is the vice-captain of the South African Hockey Men’s team and recently competed at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
The 29 year old is not only a professional hockey player but recently graduated cum laude with a Master’s degree in law from Stellenbosch University.
He is also a candidate attorney and works at Mostert and Bosman Attorneys in Bellville, where he is completing his articles.
Aside from representing South Africa in hockey, Horne has also played club hockey in the UK, where he’s completed two seasons.
The best meal you had at the Tokyo Olympics was… ?
That is quite a tough one.
I’ve seriously thrown together some world-class meals over the two weeks haha.
But the best has to be a spicy chickpea pita that I had one day as a pre-game meal.
You are able to choose one Springbok rugby player to play for SA’s hockey team. Who would you choose?
I’m sure everyone would choose him right now, but Cheslin Kolbe. There is little doubt that he has an X-factor and imagine Kolbe dropping deeper to collect the ball and basically being the Messi of hockey.
Your celebrity crush is… ?
Has to be Margot Robbie.
The worst date you have ever been on was… ?
I took a girl out to a place where a very recent old fling was with all her friends.
Felt their eyes pierce me like daggers throughout the night.
But the company was great though!

The one thing that caught your attention on social media this week is… ?
Apart from my boy Cristiano Ronaldo returning to his adopted home, the fact that there is another Covid variant.
Your funniest teammate in the SA hockey team is… ?
Mmmm funniest teammate must be Daniel Bell. Although he isn’t funnier to laugh with, more the kind that you laugh at. Whether it is things he says or does, you just can’t help but laugh at him.
Your favourite restaurant is… ? And what do you order?
I’m not someone who has a favourite restaurant. I’m more on the mood and feel type of guy. But I have to say Beluga in CPT has the best sushi which I am a big fan of.
Who would play you in a movie about your life?
Definitely, Ryan Reynolds. He is 10 times more attractive so that would immediately make my life story more exciting, but also because he oozes classes and can adapt to various situations with ease.
The one thing that most people don't know about you is… ?
I actually play a couple of musical instruments which include the piano and guitar.
