Johannesburg - In 2014 Ferdinand Gernandt produced, wrote and directed the smash hit stage musical Reik Na Die Sterre which was nominated for seven Naledi Awards, then completed two film projects, a thriller project, Haatklop, and a comedy project, Uit Die Kaskenades, for kykNET Silwerskerm Film Festival.
Internationally he co-wrote a faith-based bio-drama, 8DAYS, currently in circulation worldwide.
He has also premiered his own faith-based drama feature, The Loft House, which landed a distribution deal with Christian Art South Africa and Showmax Africa.
He has also started his own production company, Killer Wingfield.
You are able to co-direct a blockbuster movie with any director in the world. Who do you choose?
Baz Lurhmann - his outstanding colourful visuals, bizarre juxtapositional tone, out of the box themes, taking big risks in controlled chaos. These are the reasons I’ll want him beside me - his projects have heart and that’s what I aim for when producing and directing my own works.
You're on death row. You are granted one final meal and drink. What do you choose to eat and drink?
My mother’s famous chicken dish she used to prepare on Sundays when we were kids, and a huge piece of plain baked cheesecake.
Which actor would play you in a movie about your life?
Hugh Jackman.
Your biggest regret in life is?
Hot allowing myself to be first.
You are able to bring to life a movie about any South African. Who would you choose to do a movie about and why?
My father. He had quite an eventful life, crazy, suspenseful, conflict driven and funny.
What one thing has caught your attention on social media this week?
The incredible variety of the human existence and the diversity everyone chooses to live and then brave enough to shout it from the proverbial social media mountaintops.
Your celebrity crush growing up was?
Mariah Carey.
Your favourite item of clothing in your closet currently is?
H&M cargo pants.
What is one thing most people don't know about you?
I create low-content books and sell them on Amazon.
