BUENOS AIRES – Team SA's hopes of adding a medal or more to their tally of five, faded away on the final night of athletics action at the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Tuesday.

Jano Esterhuizen went into the men's javelin final as the leading qualifier from the heats, with a career-best 77.69 metres.

However, he was not able to repeat the same level of performance with his first throw of the final landing at the 65.59 mark and being his best on the night.

Esterhuizen ended 11th spot overall with the gold medal going to Finland's Topia Laine (78.85).

Hendrik van Huyssteen ended 10th in the men's pole vault final with an evening best clearance of 4.72 metres. The gold medal went to Frenchman Thiery Baptiste with a career-best 5.32.

Martha Morake ended a credible 6th overall in the women's 400 metres hurdles final in 59.95.
