After another stunning performance by the SPAR Proteas in the Quad Series, there's lots to celebrate as the team keeps on impressing against the world’s best.

On Sunday in Invercargill the Proteas claimed their very first win in the third edition of the Quad Series when they defeated England by 54-51 (if the Proteas managed to win by seven or more goals, they would have ended third in the series).

It is the South Africans (5th) first triumph over one of the top three teams on the world rankings since October 2013 when they were victories over England.

For the Player of the Match, Erin Burger, it was a firs accomplishment of the sort as she didn’t play in 2013 due to injury.

Only Maryka Holtzhausen, Bongi Msomi, Precious Mthembu and Karla Mostert of the current team were part of that match in 2013 in Port Elizabeth.

The loss against New Zealand last weekend by 56-63 was their third best result ever against the Kiwi’s and the 52-58 defeat at the hand of the Aussies on Wednesday was their joint best ever result.

Little more than two years ago the team still went down by as many as 36 goals to the Roses in Belfast. In January in Durban the scores were even after regular time, but the English came out on top in extra time.

As was the case against the Aussie Diamonds (26 all), the half time score were level at 27 all.

Against the Ferns, SA trailed by one goal after the second quarter.
