After their convincing 10-wicket victory over the Knights on Sunday, the Cape Cobras are looking to book their place in the final rounds of the Momentum One-Day Cup.
The defending one-day champions are currently fourth on the six-team log, with only a point separating them from the third-placed Dolphins.
The two teams will meet on Friday at Newlands, with the Cobras looking to leapfrog the Dolphins.
Cobras coach Paul Adams said: “It was important to get the victory over the Knights on Sunday to take off some of the pressure we had after losing three games.”
He added that the team will now focus on achieving maximum points in their remaining fixtures.
“Every game left now is a big game and we have seen that any team can win on the day. So we have to take the confidence from the last victory and keep our feet on the ground. We cannot afford to let the confidence make us get ahead of ourselves.”
After the Dolphins, the Cobras travel to the Wanderers to face the Highveld Lions , the current log leaders, on Sunday. Next weekend, they host the Warriors before they take on the Knights in Bloemfontein.
The Cobras’ last league match will be against current second-placed team, the Titans, at Boland Park on December 5. Cobras skipper Justin Ontong, who was replaced in the latter stages of the Knights game due to a hand injury, will be assessed in the next few days. Adams, though, remains hopeful he will be able to play an integral part in the final run-in.
Teams that finish second and third will enter a play-off to decide who faces the top-ranked team in the final.
