Johannesburg - The One-Day Cup match between the Dolphins and the Highveld Lions was called off without a ball bowled at Kingsmead, in Durban, on Wednesday.

The Dolphins won the toss and chose to bat, but the players were kept off the field by persistent rain, and the match officials called off the game three hours after the scheduled start.

Both sides picked up two points, with the Lions drawing further clear at the top of the table, stretching their lead to eight points over the second-placed Titans, who held a game in hand.

The Dolphins remained in third place, lying one point behind the Titans, after their second abandoned match in six one-day games this season.

In a full round of fixtures on Friday, the Lions will face the Titans at the Wanderers, the Cape Cobras host the Dolphins at Newlands and the Warriors square up against the Knights at St George's in Port Elizabeth. - Sapa
