Knights looking for some consistency

Johannesburg - The Chevrolet Knights are looking for consistency going in their One-Day Cup campaign against the Dolphins in Bloemfontein on Wednesday, said captain Morne van Wyk.

“We'd like to get some consistency going, but the Dolphins won't be an easy side to beat,” Van Wyk said.

“We haven't had a great start - it's been a bit up and down to be honest.”

The veteran skipper was still on the mend from a shoulder injury, but was hoping his team-mates could secure a second win in the competition during Wednesday's day/night clash.

Van Wyk said the deluge of rain that had followed the Knights around for much of the season was no excuse, but he admitted it had not been easy for his bowlers.

“In one regard (the rain) hasn't helped in terms of getting into rhythm, but then again you could say that we are nice and fresh for this part of the season,” he said.

“The Dolphins have got a couple of really explosive players, especially in the middle-order, and Daryn Smit looks like he has given himself the task of batting through the innings by promoting himself to No 3.”

Van Wyk was hopeful he would be back in the middle within the next few weeks, and was chomping at the bit to rejoin his team.

“I am seeing the specialist this week and, if he gives me the all-clear, then I should be playing next week, I think,” Van Wyk said.

“I feel much better, but it's down to what he says, so I will be keeping my fingers crossed.”

Without him, the Knights would be looking to bounce back from an 81-run loss to the Titans on the weekend, when they tackle the Dolphins - another side that attracts bad weather wherever they go. - Sapa
