Johannesburg – A career-best seven for 43 from Johann Louw helped the Cape Cobras destroy the Warriors by an innings and 50 runs in a Sunfoil Series match in East London on Friday.

The match, scheduled to last four days, took less than one-and-a-half days to complete.

Having resumed on 165 for six, in reply to the home side’s 107 all out, the Cobras ended on 241, thanks entirely to an unbeaten 90 from Justin Ontong, who struck 13 boundaries in his 111-ball stay in the middle.

It was then 'The Louw Show' as the 33-year-old annihilated the Warriors’ with his incredible match-haul of 10 for 79, dismissing the Eastern Cape franchise for just 84.

Charl Langeveldt (2/23) and Beuran Hendricks (1/19) claimed the other three wickets to fall, helping their side extend their advantage at the summit of the table.

The day had begun with Louw batting alongside Ontong and the former fell in the third over of the day when he edged star home bowler Basheer Walters to Ashwell Prince at slip for a duck.

Walters then took two of the remaining three wickets to end with his own career-best of six for 64.

Ontong’s determination lifted his team into the healthy position of a 134 run lead.

The Warriors slipped to nine for three at the start and they never recovered before being bundled out in 16.3 overs shortly after lunch on day two. – Sapa
