Johannesburg – Proteas' wicketkeeper Mark Boucher underwent eye surgery at a Cape Town Clinic on Thursday morning.

In a report his medical team issued after the operation, it said the three hour procedure went well.

“There were no complications, no bleeding and nothing else unexpected,” the report said.

“The important parts of the retina were intact, confirming previous findings.

“The blood which accumulated due to the trauma was removed.

“The outcome looks very positive and the surgeon is pleased with the procedure.”

Meanwhile, CSA repeated their request to the media to respect Boucher's privacy and also to respect the privileged relationship between doctor and patient.

“The Boucher family are extremely grateful for the support they have received from around the world and CSA will keep Mark's well-wishers informed as and when appropriate information becomes available.” – Sapa
