CAPE TOWN – Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Wednesday announced the retention of the Proteas coaching, management and support staff, whose contracts were aligned with the previous head coach, for the incoming tour by Bangladesh.

“This has been done in consultation with our new head coach, Ottis Gibson,” said CSA president Chris Nenzani.

“The CSA Board, in consultation with the Chief Executive (Haroon Lorgat) and the head coach, will review the issue of the appointment of the coaching, management and support staff after the conclusion of the Bangladesh series.”

That means among the coaches, Adrian Birrell continues as the assistant coach and Charl Langeveldt is the bowling mentor.

Neil McKenzie is the batting consultant, while Claude Henderson is the spin-bowling consultant.

The Proteas’ first Test against Bangladesh starts on September 28 at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom.

The Asian outfit’s tour opener is against an SA Invitation XI in a three-day game at Willowmoore Park in Benoni from September 21-23.
